What if picking up a new tablet could save you money? For American Airlines, doing essentially just that could lead to millions in savings.

A few days ago, the airline announced that it will replace the paper manuals carried by flight attendants with tablets. Document storage solutions used by American Airlines will reduce printing and fuel costs.

In fact, the airline expects to save $650,000 a year after replacing the five-pound manuals with lightweight tablets. Combine that with an estimated $300,000 saved on annual printing expenses, and you have one huge cost-reduction strategy.
