The paperless classroom has officially gone mainstream.

A recent study found that 740,000 students are currently enrolled in publicly-funded virtual schools, according to The International Reading Association.

Right now schools that mix online education with traditional classrooms operate in 24 states. In fact Alabama, Florida, Virginia and Michigan require online learning experience for a high school degree.

A number of teachers use content management services to help students learn. These days, educators blend virtual classrooms with real ones in order to shape learning to students' needs.

And many of the teachers who use online resources in their lesson plans aren't officially counted. For a number of educators, it's a personal choice rather than a state requirement. They just happen to prefer that system. In order to learn more about why teachers are switching to virtual classrooms, check back with Image One.
