Emails should be archived too

Email is often overlooked when businesses focus on their information management strategies and storing documents for compliance and recordkeeping purposes. Many businesses assume that, because it is already stored in the cloud or on a hard drive, their email is safe and secure. However, when it comes to ensuring complete compliance, even email should be backed up or archived.

Email is an incredibly useful and important tool for any business or organization to utilize. However, it is equally important that those emails are secured with the same care given to financial records or customer information. As a part of business communications, email is subject to the same compliance regulations as other documents, and failure to comply could be problematic, even for businesses with a thorough document management plan.

As official documents, emails may be required during a discovery request. By including these documents as part of information management solutions, a business will be well on its way to assuring compliance and improving document organization.
