Business process automation fills holes left by manual operations

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Most companies, similar to a wheel, perform repeatable tasks on a daily basis to continue operations. Without the proper business process management, however, organizations may be wasting time and money by not automating practices, according to a Beta News report.

In many cases, decision-makers encourage IT departments to automate activities wherever possible. But, more often than not, holes appear that need to be filled with manual activity. This places a financial and physical drain on resources, negatively impacting how companies perform and the level of revenue they are able to generate, the news source said.

Furthermore, firms with fractured processes – or part automated and part manual – often experience more costly errors found in nearly all aspects of the organization, Beta News said. The only way to solve these issues is to wholeheartedly embrace a business process automation approach.

A separate report by IT Tech News Daily confirmed the fact that automated operations reduce the cost of IT activities by freeing up staff members to perform other mission-critical tasks without driving expenses. While business process automation strategies have been around for years, the advent of cloud computing and other technologies will put more of an emphasis on these initiatives in 2012 and beyond.
