Electronic document management is more convenient for employees

Many businesses have become overwhelmed with growing volumes of documentation and are looking to new technologies that can offer employees more convenience as well as improved data organization. As a result, firms will be increasingly deploying electronic document management solutions to support these initiatives.

The Austin Daily Herald reported that The Mower County board in Texas recently voted 3-0 in favor of switching to an electronic document management system. The transition is expected to cost more than $150,000, but representatives have said that the long-term efficiency benefits will eliminate the need for additional staff, fueling ROI from the project. Financial workers for the county have long been burdened by high caseloads, and commissioners expect the technology will allow employees to more easily meet these demands, according to the source.

Business 2 Community contributor Ali Aldrich explained that electronic files are easier to access and store than paper documents. Additionally, with a digital system, staff can easily access information from any remote location on a laptop or mobile device, allowing them to take their work wherever they go.

Aldrich recommended outsourcing document imaging to fully leverage the benefits of electronic file storage. By utilizing a third-party archiving service, businesses can save time and ensure a seamless transition.
