Government payment site opens up to digital wallets

Monday, February 23, 2015

These days some people may call an efficient government an oxymoron. But recent actions to reduce paper usage are set to streamline one federal website.

The Department of Treasury's Pay.gov website will soon be accepting money from two digital wallet services.

The initiative to allow people and businesses to make digital payments to the government is intended to make the process both more secure and more efficient.

Last year more than 400 million transactions were processed through Pay.gov, with 98 percent of them finished completely electronically.

Content management services come in all shapes and forms, and digital wallets are one kind poised to become ubiquitous very soon.
