Case Study: Hillsborough County Tax Collector Manages Growth & Adds ServicesMonday, August 27, 2018
Hillsborough County, Florida’s fourth-most populous county, has undergone explosive growth over the decades, adding nearly 400,000 residents between 1990 and 2010.
Today there are an estimated 1.4 million residents and government agencies are being asked to do more. How do you handle explosive growth while adding new services without going on a hiring binge? Look to the example set by the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office.
Beginning in 1998, with the help of Image One, Hillsborough County began using ApplicationXtender document management software to increase efficiency and enable faster search and retrieval of its automobile tag records.
More Residents, More Services and Faster Document Retrieval
The Tax Collector’s digital transformation now spans a diverse collection of additional documents and processes, even outside of its core responsibilities: the office processes drivers’ licenses, birth certificates, concealed weapons permits and more. Document scanning is an ongoing process, with 14 separate scanning stations. Among the beneficiaries are the county’s residents: document requests that used to take 2-3 days can now typically be processed the same day.
Case Study Highlights
Other highlights of Image One’s work with the county include:
- Staff is now more efficient and can take on additional tasks and responsibilities
- Savings of approximately $2,400 a year on paper on ink, toner, files and storage space the office no longer needs
