The paper shredder at the Sherburne County Government Center is getting a lot of use these days.

The county is in the process of switching over to a document management software that has thus far made finding files a breeze, Star News reported. And the indexed filing system isn’t the only benefit county employees have noticed.

Postage costs have dropped significantly, and soon supply budgets will be virtually nonexistent. So far, 141,000 documents have been shredded, and more will share the same fate pending digital conversion. Scanners can process up to 30 pages per minute.

Soon, Sherburne county hopes to be fully digital. It is one of several in Minnesota that have begun converting to document management software.
