In hospitals, content management systems are becoming as common as balloons and get-well cards.

Electronic health records have made their way into hospitals across the country, according to Global Healthcare. It makes sense, too, since these systems make accessing patient data a breeze.

If a doctor needs to update a patient’s file, it can be done then and there. If the pharmacy needs someone’s prescription, it can be sent easily.

Simply put, electronic health records come in handy for maintaining an efficient hospital. And while these are important for every health care center, the publication recommends taking it a step further.

Regulatory compliance documents, tax preparation files and more should be stored digitally – just like patient health records.
