Digitization fosters technology adoption

Many business leaders are constantly looking for the latest and greatest updates to their current hardware and software offerings. Adopting new technology can help companies continue to compete or get a step ahead of their competition.

This is true of electronic document management systems – leveraging these tools can help businesses stay on the cutting edge. Organizations in many different industries, from healthcare to historical archives, have been placing their documents on online database in an effort to embrace new tools and keep records safe from destruction and loss.

With this in mind, California's Lompoc city council recently decided to pursue digitization of government records, according to KCOY-TV. Mayor Pro-Tem Ashley Costa proposed making the move to electronic archives to improve productivity and embrace the digital age.

"It's about providing the best quality of service that we can and it's about creating effective communication with the citizens and staff here at city hall," said Costa, as quoted by the news outlet.

Costa cited the immediate benefits of the move, explaining that though the up-front costs may be high, this type of system pays off over time in terms of maintenance and freeing up storage space, which will save the city money.
